A watch party,
without the countdown.

Less “three, two, one, play.” More watching.

At the same moment.

A pause, a rewind, the start of an episode. Playback follows the room so no one is a scene ahead.

Keep the night going.

Add episodes to Up next. When the queue is empty, the regular next episode starts automatically.

The reaction is half the fun.

Chat and react right beside the player. The episode keeps its place while you talk.

There is room for late arrivals.

Friends can join the current episode. If the host leaves, another participant takes over.

Installation, accounts and the little details.

How do I install without the Chrome Web Store?

  3. Enable Developer Mode (toggle top-right)
  4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted folder

Is Crunchy-Sync free?
Yes, completely free. No accounts, no subscriptions, no ads. Open source and community-driven.
Does everyone need a Crunchyroll subscription?
Yes. Crunchy-Sync only synchronizes playback — it does not stream or share any video content. Each participant watches through their own Crunchyroll account.
Can everyone watch in a different language?
Absolutely! Each user selects their own audio and subtitle preferences on Crunchyroll. Crunchy-Sync only synchronizes the playback position (play, pause, seek) — the language track is independent.
How many people can join a room?
There is no hard limit. Rooms have been tested with up to 10 people, but technically more should work. Performance depends on your internet connection.
What happens when the host switches episodes?
Everyone follows the host to the new episode, keeping their own language. At the end of an episode, queued episodes play first; with an empty queue, the regular next episode starts automatically. The host can also start a ready check when the group needs a moment.
Does Crunchy-Sync collect any data?
Room data and recent chat messages are kept for the active watch party and saved privately so a room can recover after a short interruption. Closed or expired rooms are removed from the current saved state. The website counts page views for simple statistics, without cookies and without storing IP addresses or room codes. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Is Crunchy-Sync affiliated with Crunchyroll?
No. Crunchy-Sync is an unofficial community project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Crunchyroll or Sony Pictures Entertainment.
